I shoot a Black Powder 50 cal Hawkins and the sporting goods store I bough the gun from had a measuring device about as long as your middle finger that you could measure out black powder into for x amount of grams. All depending on how much you wanted the gun to kick after firing it.What is the best and most accurate way to measure black powder for the most consistent results?
A scale would be the obvious choice, but then you have to get speed loaders or somethin..

Buy yourself a brass powder measure. Make sure powder is loose by shaking the can. Just dip in powder measure to loose powder but do not compress or tap down. Do not overload your firearm. Rifles usually take 100 - 150 grains.
You could also purchased premade powder pellets. That is the most accurate way to know you have the same amount of powder each time. Pellets are usually 50 grains per pellet. Drop in 2 or 3 pellets, and your lead and then your ready to rock.
the best way is to use a powder measure. there are several kinds available at most sporting goods stores. you should ckeck your owners manual for min/max loads.
I use the pack the scoop measure method. you will notice.
if you want to make you own and you know how much you use just pour it in a empty casing and mark it and pour it out and use a hacksaw to cut it off at the mark. then just fill it up level each time and you will always measure the same.
Black powder is measured by volume not by weight. Always use a powder measurer.Pouring out of a powder flask is the best way.
