Is their a law on black powder?

im a hunter who uses a black powder rifle and want to know if their is a limit on how much you can have in your house at one time???

i live in florida if that helpsIs their a law on black powder?
I also hunt black powder and I would not buy more then I can use.

Black powder and its substitutes will get contaminated with moisture very easily.

Then you have the down side that you don鈥檛 wont large quantities any where you live or your family lives.

Not only because of house fires but most people don鈥檛 know that static electricity can set it off.

Why take the risk to your life, home and wallet for if you have 50 pounds go bad that going to cost you a bunch of money.

Where as you have a pound or two go bad that not near as expensive of a loss.

I would advise you keep only what you can use in that season, that way each year you start out with New Fresh powder each year.

After 911 you don鈥檛 wont to store up on it.Is their a law on black powder?
True blackpowder is listed as a destructive device and is extremely regulated, smokeless powders, what most modern muzzleloaders use isn't listed as a destructive device, the best way to find out what is allowed in your locality is to contact the fire department at their non emergency number and ask.Or simply ask the salesman at the gunshop you buy powder from.
The limit is five cans of black powder. You would need a special permit if you have more on hand. If you buy the tin cans with the red on them the powder will stay good for up to five years.
I think 50 pounds. It's because it's very explosive. The cans you get at the sporting goods store are about enough for a hunting season.

You should try pyrodex. It burns with the pressures of black powder, is not quite as explosive, and doesn't foul nearly as bad.
