along with other pyrotechnic uses. what kind of wood is it made of?Can I use charcoal briquettes for use in black powder...?
Don't use charcoal briquettes. They contain too many additives that could cause problems with your BP.

Yes I believe you can. Black powder-gunpowder- is made up of charcoal, potassium nitrate (saltpeter), and some sulfur compound. Charcoal can be made from any kind of wood. It is made by heating wood in the absence of oxygen. All of the other ';stuff'; goes away and you are left with carbon. Your best bet is just to buy charcoal.
