While making a smoke grenade...can i substitute potassium nitrate with black powder and get the same result?

No. Potassium nitrate is an ingredient in black powder. You will end up with insufficient oxidizer (the potassium nitrate) and too much fuel. Your grenade will be inefficient, maybe not even blow up, just fizzle. While making a smoke grenade...can i substitute potassium nitrate with black powder and get the same result?
no, i don't think so. i think potassium nitrate is used in a smoke grenade on purpose so i wouldn't change anything. i used the regular ingredients, sugar and KNO3, when i made mine and it turned out to be really good. it took a while to completely burn out and gave out a TON of smoke. so, if this is your first time, stick to the known ingredients, and in time, u can start experimenting with other stuff. While making a smoke grenade...can i substitute potassium nitrate with black powder and get the same result?
AFAIK, no, black powder deflagrates I think and the reaction which makes the smoke is specifically to do with the KNO3 and the C6H12O6
