Holy crap, the terrible wrong answers you get on here. If you don't know, why answer?

The powder inside a firecracker is called ';flash powder';. It is a ';detonating'; compound, which means it explodes when ignited and confined. Black Powder, or any gun powder is a ';deflagrating'; compound, which means it burns rapidly when ignited confined. Pyrotechnic flash powder is usually made with a super fine ground metal such as aluminum or titanium, plus a few other ingredients I wont list here. It is hazardous to make, depending on formula, and its manufacture is restricted to licensed Pyrotechnics professionals. Please don't try and make any.Ok so ive been wondering what powder is in a firecracker .....Black powder(gun powder) or flash powder?????
FLASH POWDER is actualy Magnesium Oxide Powder... It gives off a super bright silver white when burned. Common uses are pyro-technics in theater and rock concerts... other common use is bottle rockets and other assorted fireworks. to give off a bright white light when burned. It is never used as a propellent or as an explosive in fireworks either.... Just the bright light you see when a bottle rocket reaches full altitude and goes bang with a bright white light...... Flash powder is useless as a gun powder....
It is just flash powder, which I believe is no good as a substitute for actual gunpowder.
Gun powder.
its not black powder but it is gun powder black powder is what the old cowboys used
