It depends on how good of shape it's in.
Black powder is extremely corrosive, if it has been shot without being cleaned it is trash. How much is a black powder ruger pistol worth?
Model?

Condition?
From $50-$200.How much is a black powder ruger pistol worth?
Stainless will be worth more than the blued version. Since Ruger currently no longer makes them they should have some value, being one of the best cap %26amp; ball revolvers out there. I would guess in good condition $300 for the Blued model and $350-$400 for the Stainless.

Does black powder (gunpowder) ignite under pressure?
HYPOTHETICALLY, If someone was putting black powder into a small container (made out of hard plastic), filled it up, and put an end cap (plastic also) onto it, could it explode from the pressure of putting the end cap on?
The end cap would be put on by putting the two pieces in a vice.
If it would ignite, would wrapping the black powder in paper prevent this?
If it would not ignite, how much pressure would be required to ignite it?
Thanks for all your help, I'm doing a paper on black powder.

Andrew the way you worded your question makes me very wary about how to answer you. If your truly doing a research paper do some online work. Go to Remington powder safety, they have a good online safety section. Also you can go to the pyrodex website. As a bit of advice to your question, since the development of black powder fire arms there have been thousands of reported cases of powder being ignited from being struck to hard by a ramrod. Best advice if you don't know what your doing leave propellants alone.Does black powder (gunpowder) ignite under pressure?
It sounds like you are asking if you will blow your hand off if you screw the cap on a pipe bomb that you want to make. I seriously hope that isn't your intention.
Black powder can explode under impact, such as hitting it with a hammer. I really can't say whether it would explode by being compressed in a plastic cylinder. When a muzzle loading gun is loaded, the powder is lightly tamped in place when the bullet is rammed down the barrel, so i don't think mild pressure would ignite it.
Yes it could. Please don't play with gun powder. Remember Diesel engines use no spark plugs just lots of compression to ignite fuel/air mixture. Also if there is a spark anywhere kaboom........
Pressure depends on many things like type of powder, temp, humidity etc,.......
Whoa this is deep please tell me your not think of this.blushed

At 38, i now have grey beard as a result of the shaving powder that i use. How do i get my black beard back?
I started to shave with 'magic' brand of shaving powder (for black men). Rather than being black everytime the beard reappears, it comes out as grey giving the impression that i'm more aged than actual. I want the beard to be black anytime it resurgaces. At 38, i now have grey beard as a result of the shaving powder that i use. How do i get my black beard back?
I think that might be your age buddy. At 38, i now have grey beard as a result of the shaving powder that i use. How do i get my black beard back?
Your grey beard is not caused by the shaving powder you used. If your beard is coming in grey it just means you have less pigment in your facial hairs now. The only way to correct this is to use a dye for facial hair.
Your shaving powder doesn't get down into the area where the whisker is forming. You are aging dude.
Just for Men makes beard dye , available in many colors to match your hair color. They have black or black/brown
stop using that magic brand and use like gillette or somthing.. or dye your beard ..
Hair dye is your answer
Go get some Just For Men Black beard dye and put it on ...it takes 5 min.
Unless this is really weird powder, I suspect the gray whiskers have to do with aging.
white beard looks cool, makes you looks smarter, dont worry too much :)
Try some ';Just For Men';--the one for beards, mustaches, and sideburns.
My friend, the color of your beard is not a result of using the ';Magic'; brand of shaving power. It is as result of the natural aging process of your body. Relax, it happens to all of us. You have a choice, either dye the beard or shave it off. My choice would be to shave it off, beards are out of style in most of the the world. Most women like a clean shaven face.
Maybe it's just a coincidence and your just maturing/growing old
It's not your shaving powder hon. As you age, your hair goes gray. Face it, you're just getting old.
You could use some ';Just for Men'; black hair dye to hide the grey beard but, shaving powder,as well as age and/or stress, can cause your beard to silver over.
its not due to any shaving powder buddy, its called old age and our facial hair and chest hair greys up first...

HWats the max load for a .50 black powder pistol?
I've heard 40 grsains of fffg, but has anyone here tried more, and if so what happened? did it take it ok?HWats the max load for a .50 black powder pistol?
IMR3031 and H335 are smokeless powders. NEVER use smokeless powder in black powder guns! Serious injury or even death could occur.
What kind of gun do you have? What brand? What model? I have .50 black powder pistols with max loads from 40gr FFFg up to 70gr FFFg. Not all black powder handguns use same amount of powder. You need to provide more info.HWats the max load for a .50 black powder pistol?
Ok it has to do with powder and to much or to little is dangerous you would be best getting a reloading book. See lets say 40gr of ummm IMR3031 was a good load but the same power was found with 35gr of lets say H335 the it would be bad to use 45gr of H335 that would be to much power and could ccause the gun to blow up in your face well the chamber. You need a book like Modern Reloading by Richard Lee.
In my repro Remington I run about 30 grains of black powder...
NEVER use smokeless [modern] powder in a blackpowder weapon : you might live to regret it.
One source I read said to put paper on the ground in front of where you stand and fire...if you see unburned powder, you've overloaded the charge.
do not use smokeless powder as the first poster said.....go to the website of the company that makes your pistol and get an online manual and read it and do not use more than it says......40 grains is about right

I'm 23 now, been lifting seriously since I was 16. I weigh 170, max at 295-300, and am only 5'5';. First off, everyone's body is different. As long as you feel ok, then you can keep taking anything. One very important thing to be aware of is your hydration. You need to take at least 64oz of water a day to take pressure of your liver. You won't feel any side effects, but over the course of many years, your liver can get fucked up if you keep pumping supplements into your body without properly using them. If you take supplements, you need to watch your alcohol intake because that combined with the supplements really can **** up your liver and cause you serious problems when you get older. Personally, black powder is my favorite preworkout energy supplement. I've tried them all. MRI is a popular brand because they use a very stable formula. If you were to try something like NaNO Vapor, sometimes you will be fine, other times you may break out with a red rash and feel real hot. That's because putting too much NO into your body without an adequate delivery system causes your body to release that energy in different ways, sometimes a rash and hot flashes. With cycling...everyone you talk to will have a different opinion. Mine is this: 1) it takes the human body 21 days to make or break habits. This rule can be applied to almost everything, even weight lifting. 2) with that in mind, after about 1 month, you would have lifted consistently for about 21 days, including taking black powder. After that, your body gets used to it and it begins to use its effect. It's almost as if your body gets immune to it. Therefore, I believe cycling 1 month on, 1 month off any supplement is the best possible idea for two main reasons. First, 1 month is just enough time for your body to not get used to the supplement and its effect. When your are on your month off, you will lose a little noticable strength, but nothing disheartening. Second, when you get back on after taking a month off, your body will experience that initial shock similar to the first few times you took it, which will hopefully help you to keep increasing your strentgth. This is a lot to of stuff to try to type up, it's a lot easier to talk about it, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say and it's helpful.

Have you ever heard of Black Powder being related to increased aggression. I'm 25 and have been training regulary since 2001. Recently my closest friends tell me I've been ';Roid Raging'; (I assure you I'm not on roids) and confronted me asking if I was. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Report Abuse
I'm 20 and started lifting 2 years ago, I was 140 pounds 6' tall, now i am 6'2 170. I took No-xplode pretty much 2 years straight now, with a month break here and there. I agree with most of what Mr. Hammer has to say except when you say after 21 days you lose the effect, i find you just need to Report Abuse
..... i find you just need to stay hydrated taking no products, since you swell up so much when you take it you need to be taking in the water to feed the swell, or else youll get light headed or something, im no expert but youll be fine on black powder. Report Abuse

What is the propotions in makeing black powder?
It is not hard to find the recipe on line. jimihend has provided you with what seems to be a pretty close apprixmation to what I have seen published. It is not hard to find the components and it is not hard to mix them as long as you don't have to grind them. They can be set off by grinding and can even be set off by being physically struck hard enough. You can find yourself the victim of an unplanned explosion. The powder that you will get is what is called serpentine powder. The three components are not combined in a way that will keep them mixed in the proper proportions. As the powder is jiggled in transet, it will separate due to the difference in the densities of each of the components. When you load this stuff, one time it will go bang, the next time it may go foof and the next time it may go KA_BOOM!!!
So now what do you do wiht this info.? If you are smart you will see that the best and safest thing to do is to go and buy some commercially made black powder at a store. If you are sufficiently curious and don't mind suffering some bad burns, and having limbs blown off or being blinded or killed, you will go try to make some for yourself but have the decency to do it far from anyone else. If you are monumentally stupid, you will try to make it in your house and endanger everyone in there as well as taking a chance on burning down your house or blowing it up. Soccer%26amp;b said that homemade blackpowder is awsome. If by awsome, he means hazardous as hell then, yes, it is awsome. It ain't a toy!! Leave the manufacture of black powder up to the professionals. What is the propotions in makeing black powder?
Go ahead and make it. Use it as a fuse or to start a fire.
But DO NOT use it in a gun. You run the risk of blowing the gun up, getting a ball jammed in the barrel and rusting the gun action and barrel to bits.
You also run the risk of getting in trouble with the law for illegal production of explosives.
I suggest you just buy what you need or use Pyrodex. What is the propotions in makeing black powder?
1 part STUPID
2 parts DUMB
= 3 parts DEAD.
You can make it but do not use it in any firearm. I would check local laws as true black powder is an explosive and controled as such. So t manufacture it without lic. might land you in jail when one of your buddies blows his arm off with it.
The optimum proportions for gunpowder are: 74.64% saltpeter, 13.51% charcoal, and 11.85% sulfur (by weight).
go to the gun shop and buy it
Notice that you asked for proportions, and not instructions...
do you know how to make the Darwin Award list ?
i'm not sure but when you find out let me know .... homemade gunpowder is awesome...

Wheres the best place to shoot a deer when black powder?
Always shoot for the lungs. The heart is small and on the bottom front side right behind the front legs. The surest easiest shot is a lung shot, because the lungs on a deer are large and take up nearly 1/4 of the front half of a deer.Wheres the best place to shoot a deer when black powder?
Best place to shoot them is next to your truck so you don't have to drag them as far.
Black powder rifles are very accurate today, with the in lines and really good bullets. If your using a scoped rifle, take the broadside heart/lung shot, Head on I would take a shot trying to hit the windpipe and heart.
My father-in-law always took the neck shot whenever it was presented as a broadside shot. His logic was that the neck pivot up and down only so far and that the shot will hit only a few inches high or low if the animal lifts or lowers its head. And if the animal moves you will strike the chest cavity as a deer will usually only move forward unless confronted by something in front of it. He perfected his shooting in Iran during WWII getting camp meat for his unit stationed in Tehran. And after hunting with him for years, I only saw him miss one deer. So use this advise as you see fit.Wheres the best place to shoot a deer when black powder?
Same as any other time. Heart/lung if you can't do a head shot, or want the head for some strange reason.
In Kentucky.
